Creekwood Cup HH Competition
Join us for "The Creekwood Cup Hobby Horse Competition" at SOUL Harbour Ranch. Beginner and experienced Hobby Horse enthusiasts are welcome!

The Creekwood Cup at SHR is hosted by hobby horse enthusiast Gwen, also known on social media as Creekwood Stables! Gwen has been hobby horsing for 5 years and has loved being involved at the SOUL Harbour Ranch HH events. She has won multiple national titles at the US Hobby Horse Championships and has gained over 10K followers on her social media platforms at Instagram and YouTube. Gwen loves to compete with her hobby horses and is SO excited to help introduce others to the competitive side of hobby horse riding!

This is a competitive event and events will be timed. Ribbons will be awarded for 1st through 6th place! Participants who don't place will receive a participant ribbon.

DATE: Saturday, December 27, 2025

TIME: 12:30am-3:30pm (Registration starts at 12:30 until 1:00pm. The Fun Jump practice session is also during this time!) *please do not arrive at SOUL Harbour Ranch earlier than 12:15 pm as we are setting up and getting our event ready!
LOCATION: SOUL Harbour Ranch, 22093 N. Countryside Lane, Barrington IL (parking: go past the house to the cul-de-sac, left down the driveway to the barns, past the 2nd barn/training center and left towards the parking lot, on the North side of the large arena building/training center). *Parking is tight so please carpool with family and friends who are coming to watch.
COST*: $15 per participant for 4 events (fun jump for all paid participants, 1 showjumping class, 1 barrel racing class and 1 high jump). MAXIMUM PARTICIPANTS 50 RIDERS REGISTERED AT EVENTBRITE: NO WALK-INS (No non-RSVP'd riders day of event) We will close registration on 12/26/25.
*Includes cost of 1 HH participant plus 1 non-participating guest; extra guest $5 donation. *Under 16 must be supervised by parents and/or guardians on-site. * 100% of these proceeds benefit the SOUL Harbour Ranch Animal Therapy Program.

WHAT IS A HOBBY HORSE COMPETITION?
A HHC features “riders” who will complete a course of jumps and barrels with their hobby horse (a toy horse made of a straight stick with a small horse's head, or any other animal head, attached to one end).
The Creekwood Cup will be divided into the following events which ALL riders will participate in:

REGISTRATION STARTS AT 12:30 pm
1. Registration & Fun Jump 12:30-1:00 pm (for registered participants): not timed, just have fun jumping the course! Use as your practice round before the below competitions.

2. Group Jumping of the Course 1:00-1:15 pm: all riders will be mentored on the course and jump as a group
3. Showjumping Start time 1:15am-2:15 pm *choose 1 division you would like to be in:
Mini Showjumping (poles are on the ground) *participant ribbon
Junior Showjumping (poles at 1 foot) 11 and under
Senior Showjumping (poles at 2 feet) any age
4. Barrel racing 2:15-3:00 pm: an exhilarating Western contest racing the barrels, racing as fast as you can around the 3 barrels (R barrel, L barrel, far barrel then race on home). Divisions: 11 and under, 12 and older
5. Introduction to Dressage demonstration (Gwen)
6. High Jump 3:00-3:30 pm: Divisions: 11 and under, 12 and older. All riders will line up as we start the jumps out low, increasing the height until the last rider who has cleared the highest jump is left standing.

Riders can wear Derby or riding attire or dress in whatever they deem appropriate with closed toe shoes.
RAFFLE: we will be raffling off a 2 hour private Hobby Horse visit at SOUL Harbour Ranch for the winner and 10 closest family members or friends. Tickets: $5 each or 5 for $20. You can buy your tickets at Eventbrite or purchase tickets the day of The Creekwood Cup.
Several Hobby Horse Venders will be on-site too!
